Pig ear crinolines, ceramic corset and ceramic heel shoes.
In this work made structurally of black ceramics we find two recurrent elements in my work. Important elements in the specificity of contemporary rites of passage as debutant dance.
Being a misogynistic expression of women’s coming of age, beginner dances are still an important cultural element in the countries of Latin America and the United States.
It is the way to make public the fact that the girl is ready to «deserve» a man.
Even if it could be taken as a celebration of female empowerment in which it is celebrated that the girl has become a woman, I think it is the first step in a chain of events that represent women as pieces of meat, ready to be taken.
