There is a desire to portray the rituals and behaviors of Indigenous communities within contemporary settings. For Indigenous peoples, dance serves as a means to manifest and incorporate aspects of reality. Dance is a space for the transmission of knowledge, as during its preparation stage; the origin myths, rites of passage and foods are narrated; dietary habits and personal behavior are taught.
Dances on unexpected surfaces” are new forms of what is often referred as media dances or dances for camera
